One way to save a little cash while traveling is staying at Harvest Hosts locations (for free!) like the two we stayed at on the way up to South Dakota. We chose two really nice locations this time. The weather was perfect and we didn't need to run the generator very much.
We spent a week just outside Burlington at a campground in Colchester, Vermont. It was a great, but very wet, week! We did a lot of driving and exploring the different parts of Vermont trying to find moose and chase fall colors.
We spent a week in New Hampshire and it was a ton of fun! The weather was messy for a few days so that limited the stuff we were able to do but we made the best of it. You could definitely spend a couple weeks here just spending time in the wild and experiencing the awesome outdoors.
We only had a week in the Portland area so we spent a lot of it driving around
chasing lighthouses! Claire was able to take the kids to some local farms during
the
Acadia National Park is a gem. There's a ton of places to explore and a
seemingly endless number of trails to hike. Just be careful, some of them get a
little sketchy at
