Albuquerque, New Mexico
We had two full days in ABQ and we packed a ton of stuff into them! When we arrived in ABQ Wednesday afternoon, we took a drive through Old Town and kept an eye on the weather and made the decision to go ahead and go on the Sandia Peak Tramway. Rainshowers popped up and made the experience challenging, but it was still fun.
San Felipe de Neri Church
An incredibly beautiful Catholic church in Old Town!
Old Town
There are a lot of shops in Old Town along with food and wineries. We dropped by the Breaking Bad Museum (Thomas loved the show) and walked through most of the area.
Sandia Peak Tramway
The Sandia mountains are nearby and there is a tram that takes you up to the top of Sandia Peak. The rain followed us up so we didn't get many decent pictures, but the view is spectacular!
Rio Grande Nature Center State Park
This is a really cool state park with a lot of walking and biking trails and a lot of things to see.
These flowers smell like chocolate! Very strange and we couldn't figure out why and didn't catch a name, but these flowers were very fragrant. I didn't believe Riley at first when he said they smell like chocolate. But they do!
Petroglyph National Monument
Thousands of years ago the people that lived here told stories through petroglyphs drawn on the sides of rocks. These below are very visible and easy to access at the Petrogylph National Monument.
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
This was a really cool experience. We toured the center and got a glipse of artifacts and history of the Pueblo people. What was really special was we were able to watch a dance demonstration by four local people of Aztec descent. THAT was cool!
Up Next
We're finishing the drive to San Francisco and will spend two weeks at an RV resort in Pacifica. We're looking forward to the chilly weather!
